Steve Mann:
41 Years of Wearable Augmented Reality as a Natural User Interface: The Past, Present, and Future of Phenomenal Augmented Reality

2015-10-27 12:30 at MaRS

Come and personally experience and hold in your hand the past, present, and future of computer user interfaces, including 41 years of wearable augmented reality as a NUI (Natural User Interface).  You will get to see and try out the world’s first wearable computer, which I built when I was 12 years old back in 1974 for “Phenomenal Augmented Reality” (augmented reality that makes visible physical phenomena like radio waves or metaphenomenology like the sensing of sensing).  You’ll have the opportunity to do an Augmented Reality portrait picture you can keep and take home with you (we’ll bring several audience members up on stage to experience it) grasping and holding radio waves overlaid on physical reality in perfect alignment with what’s really happening in the physical space.  A meta-conversation is a conversation about conversations.  Meta data is data about data.  Thus metasensing is sensing of sensors and their capacity to sense.  Come and experience meta: the world’s first NUI is the future of computing.
